“The ambition of the Grand Est Region is to build the economy of the future, by supporting in particular all the talents and actors of innovation. The Great Est region is a land of excellence, which must rely on the French and world map of Tech! Welcome to 360 Possible Great East! 

Jean ROTTNER was Vice-President of the Grand Est Region in charge of territorial and digital competitiveness. In October 2017, following the resignation of Philippe RICHERT, he was elected President of the Grand Est Region. 

He is also First Deputy Mayor of Mulhouse, of which he was Mayor between 2010 and 2017. He is also a community advisor to Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération. 

As a representative of the Association of French Regions, he was appointed in February 2018 as a member of the SNCF Supervisory Board and a member of the Board of Directors of the Agence Nationale pour la Rénovation Urbaine (Conseil d’administration de l’Agence Nationale pour la Rénovation Urbaine ANRU), by decree. 

In addition, he has been President of the National Federation of Town Planning Agencies (Fédération Nationale des Agences d’Urbanisme FNAU) since September 2014. 

Jean ROTTNER was born in 1967. A doctor of medicine, he was an emergency hospital practitioner at the Mulhouse Hospital Centre (1997-2005) before becoming head of its emergency medicine unit from 2005 to 2009. 

Already a Knight of the National Order of Merit since 2011, he was named Knight of the Legion of Honour during the promotion on July 14, 2018.
