Michel Vanhaesbroucke is an engineer by training (Polytechnique and Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées) and has been working in the energy sector for more than 27 years.

He began his career at GDF as an engineer on the renovation project for the LNG plant in Skikda (Algeria). He then held positions in energy supply, first as head of LNG (liquefied natural gas) procurement for Gaz de France, then as Managing Director of Capcol (now EDF Trading Logistics), a subsidiary supplying fuels (coal, fuel oil, gas) for EDF’s power plants. In this context, negotiated the gas supply component of EDF’s development projects in Mexico and Egypt in particular.

Michel Vanhaesbroucke becomes Chief of Staff to the President of GDF, and Secretary of the Board of Directors.

He then became Key Account Director of GDF, then Director of all GDF / GDF SUEZ / Engie BtoB sales; in this context, he transformed the structure and strategy to react to the competitive tendering and loss of regulated tariffs, and worked for the transition to a solutions/services model (notably the fusion project for energy sales – Cofely).

He joined the EDF Group in September 2015 as head of the strategic process in the Group Strategy Department.

Michel Vanhaesbroucke is now Director of EDF Pulse Croissance, the EDF Group’s start-up incubator, since its creation in autumn 2017.
